2009 Napa Valley Reserve
Hints of rose petal and blueberry on the nose join forces on the palate to create a rich, mouth feel of ripe blackberry, cassis and velvety tannins. Ending with a finish that is long complex, this wine will continue to age gracefully.
Manually harvested and picked at optimum ripeness. Hand sorted in the vineyard. De-stemmed and crushed into stainless steel fermentation tanks. Inoculated with Bordeaux Red yeast, the wine was pumped over twice daily. Near the end of fermentation, the wine was inoculated with malolactic bacteria. The wine was pressed when dry in the fermenter, after which it was racked off the gross lees and moved to barrels. Aged 18 months in Bordeaux style French and Hungarian oak barrels. Racked quarterly to aid the natural clarification. The final blend was assembled and bottled May 2011.
